FAQ

How long will it take to heal?

Permanent Makeup Healing Time

When scheduling a date for a permanent makeup procedure, keep in mind the healing time of the procedure. You will need a day or so afterward without social plans or strenuous activity. Do not have a procedure right before going on vacation because

1)You will not look your best the first few days.

2) You may not be able to avoid sun, wind or other items listed in post-care instructions.

3) If you had a question or problem it would be best to be near your permanent cosmetic technician and local physician.

OUTER HEALING TIME completes in about 3-5 days for eyes, 7-10 days for lips.

INNER HEALING TIME

completes in 1 - 2 months.

How long will I look bold?

All permanent makeup will appear extremely intense and thick immediately after the procedure and the permanent make-up color will look strange until the scabbing and excess pigment sheds off.

After a couple of days (2-3 for eyes, 3-4 for lips) you could return to work or go shopping without being noticed. After 2 days, you can mask the area with other makeup/ powder/ lipstick while waiting for completion of healing. Colors will continue to soften over the next couple of months.

How quickly a client returns to work depends on which permanent makeup procedure she had performed and what type of occupation she has (greets the public or works more privately in office).

Eyeliner is a breeze. Clients have eyeliner done on Friday or Saturday and return to work Monday. Eyebrows and lips are a bigger ordeal. Clients usually have either done on Thursday or Friday and return to work on Monday.

Lips peel for a week and might feel chapped for 2 weeks. During the peeling process it may seem like there is not much color in your lips. The lip color starts showing more after a week or two.

The eyebrows are really defined and hard to hide because they are 50% darker than they will be when they heal and also because of the epithelial crust that is formed from excess pigment and dried blood that makes them even more bold the next day. Most people apply powder or base makeup to tone down the boldness during this process.

How long does it take?

How long it takes depends on a couple of things: The look we are wanting to achieve and how many procedures we are doing at one time. Plan on spending a few hours with me. You have to consider time spent filling out paperwork, discussing preferences, pre-marking brows or lips, numbing time, working time, etc.

Total time is about 1-2 hours for eyebrows and eyeliner depending on thickness and style and 2-3 hours for lips.

Will it hurt?

Numbing Methods: The use of over-the-counter (OTC) topical numbing medications make the procedures tolerable for some clients and painless for others. The reason for this is as follows: Pain perception varies among individuals and the type of pain a person tolerates varies also. One person can tolerate hair pulling but not a needle shot. Another person can tolerate eyebrow tweezing but can’t stand microdermabrasion. The numbing methods I use are over the counter numbing creams and Gels that are approved to use for permanent cosmetics.

The numbing methods I use makes the procedures virtually painless. You will have some tenderness in the eyeliner and eyebrow region. The lip liner and lip color procedure is also pain free but the healing process is bit more painful during the first evening and takes a longer time than the other procedures.
